Editorial policy
Every post on this blog follows the same rules. They are short, and this page is where they live.
Who writes the posts
I am A.C. Amarasinghe, the author of The Return of Attention. I write these posts with the help of AI tools, for the English and the structure; the map, the examples and every claim about the map come from my book and my own practice, and nothing is published that I have not read and agreed with. English is my second language, which is one reason I use the tools. The thinking is mine.
What the map is
Every post uses the Present Attention and Happiness Matrix, a model from my book. It is a way of noticing where attention is, not a theory of the brain and not a treatment. The full account is on one page: how the matrix works. Where a post makes a claim about the map, it is worded as the book's claim, because that is what it is.
Where claims come from
Each claim about the map is traced to a chapter and page of the book, and the source is recorded with the post. Research is cited for context only, never as proof that the map is right; a post carries at most two studies, each checked against the original paper before it is cited. The weekly news edition reports the week's headlines in my own words with a link to the original report under each one.
What this blog never does
It does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice, and no clinician reviews these posts. If low mood has lasted two weeks or more, if anxiety has become constant, or if you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please talk to a doctor or a crisis line; every post ends with the numbers. When a post touches a condition that has an established treatment, it says so and links to a public health body.
I write about several traditions on Sundays, as I see their essence through the map. The map is not drawn from any of them.
What is paid for
Nothing. There are no sponsored posts, no paid links and no advertising on the blog. The only product mentioned is my own book.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, send it through the contact page. A real error is fixed in the post, the post shows an "Updated" date under the byline, and the change is noted at the point it was made when it changes the meaning. Posts are not edited silently.
